Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address and display name. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text.

Guest Accounts: If you play as a guest, we store only a display name and gameplay data. No email is required.

Gameplay Data: We collect data about your in-game activities, including bird collections, photo scores, achievements, skills and progression, biomes visited, and your position in the game world.

Technical Data: Your IP address is processed in-memory for rate limiting and abuse prevention but is not stored in our database or logged.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected data to: provide and maintain the game service, authenticate your account, save your game progress, prevent abuse and enforce rate limits, and improve the game experience.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored in a database on our servers. Authentication tokens (JWT) are stored in your browser's localStorage and are cleared when you log out.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. Your display name is visible to other players in the game world.

5. Data Retention

Guest account data may be deleted periodically. Registered account data is retained until you request deletion.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

BirdMMO uses browser localStorage to store your authentication token and game settings. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

7. Children's Privacy

BirdMMO is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. If you are in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or playing BirdMMO, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

BirdMMO is a free-to-play multiplayer online bird photography game accessible via web browser at birdmmo.com.

3. User Accounts

You may play as a guest or create a registered account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when registering.

4. User Conduct

You agree not to: use offensive or inappropriate display names, exploit bugs or glitches, use automated tools or bots, attempt to disrupt the service or other players' experience, or reverse-engineer the game.

5. Game World

The game world is procedurally generated and resets daily at midnight UTC. Your collected birds, achievements, and skills persist across world resets. We reserve the right to modify game mechanics at any time.

6. Intellectual Property

BirdMMO and its original content are the property of the developers. 3D models used in the game are attributed to their respective creators under Creative Commons licenses (see Credits in-game).

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

BirdMMO is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or that the game will be free of errors.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

9. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our sole discretion.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
